Cellulite and Lifestyle Tips that will Help You Feel More Confident

Let's Talk Cellulite, Ladies.

It's that stuff that many of us, around 90% of women in fact, wish we didn't have and curse ourselves profusely when bathing suit and shorts season comes around and we have to face the dreaded truth of the dimpled cellulite on our thighs.

But really, if 90% of us has it then why are we still so embarrassed by it? Research shows that cellulite is caused by genetics and hormones that affects our connective tissues. Often times it bears no reflection on how much we exercise, how clean or poorly we eat, how long we sit, or even our body fat.

There are many pictures of very, very fit women with abs of steel and cellulite on their behinds. C'est la vie. Embrace it, don't hide it, it's life! We are so hard on ourselves. And if you see perfectly sculpted women without cellulite on social media, remember they have been photoshopped.

Having said that, it is only very recently that I can actually take this advice myself. I exercise daily and am obsessed about eating clean and healthy.  I have hidden my thighs for as long as I can remember since my teenage years when this dimply stuff first appeared.  Ugh. Only recently on a family vacation to Hawaii did I feel confident enough to walk up and down the beach (with people I actually knew walking behind me!) in my bikini without hiding my thighs. I still wouldn't be happy with anyone snapping any photos from behind mind you. Baby steps, baby!

So now that we have established that cellulite is the NORM and that it isn't a reflection of your lifestyle, there are still things we can do and use to make some small changes today to make us feel better and more confident to bare all this summer.

Here are some cellulite improvement strategies that can help reduce the bumpy appearance:

1. Exercising to feel great and change body composition to more muscle mass and less body fat will improve the appearance of cellulite and help tone your muscles, not to mention all the other health benefits for your body and mind.

Focus on cardio and strength training, as you need both. It can be as simple as walking for 30 minutes every day and doing 20 squats. Just do something to get moving.

I personally love yoga, pilates and barre to tone and strengthen my body especially my core (abs) and booty.

Here is my Youtube channel so you can do these free workouts at home.

2. Eating a diet that is clean ~ full of fresh vegetables and fruit, lean protein sources, healthy grains, and cutting out processed foods that come in a box or package or are fried.

This means packing a lunch and snacks and food to go so that you can always make healthy choices. If you are new to eating clean, check out our Pinterest page or Instagram account to see some healthy food inspo.

3. Massaging and stimulating the area with cellulite to encourage blood and lymph flow in the body. You can do this with dry brushing before your shower and by using a Lemon Sugar Body scrub in the shower.  When used a couple times a week, it has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite—especially over time.

Bottom line ladies, we will never rid our bodies of the stuff AND we aren't alone. Also, there is nothing wrong with your body if you have cellulite! I am a healthy, physically active woman and I have had cellulite my whole life.  It is what it is!
